In 1930s Italy, a debonair Jewish server- turned- bookmaker named Guido starts a puck tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman schoolteacher named Dora. Guido and Dora have a son named Joshua and live happily together until the forced expatriation of the city’s Jewish population in cattle buses .
